It was in 1950’s that the original Jakes Spin-A-Lure was created by Arnold Jacobson. At the time, Arnold was a sheet metal and air conditioning contractor in Sheridan, Wyoming who merely enjoyed making things on the side.

When he initially developed the lure, he had no intention of selling it. However, impressed by the casting distance and performance of the lure in the waters of the Bighorn Mountains, he decided to sell his sample to the locals in 1956. The rest is history.

Word-of-mouth and a loyal customer base has kept the family owned business a competitive player in the fishing lure industry for nearly 70 years.

Still based in Sheridan, Wyoming, the business is currently owned and operated by Arnold’s family. Jakes Lures are distributed throughout the United States and remain the #1 lure in Yellowstone National Park.
